David Saylors — Photography, Amateur Radio, and Electronics

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I'm David Saylors, a photographer, amateur radio operator (WK4DS), and electronics tinkerer based in Trenton Georgia. This site is where all three of those obsessions collide, and I'm glad you found it.

Leica Photography, Portfolios, and the Minimalist Approach

I've been shooting for years, and somewhere along the way I traded in a bag full of Nikon gear for a stripped-down Leica kit and never looked back. I still shoot some Nikon cameras and lenses from time to time, but Leica photography has been right in the middle of my world too.

There's something about working with fewer lenses and slower intentions that just produces better images for me. You'll find nature photography, street photography, architectural work, and travel photography here, along with a blog where I dig into gear, technique, and the occasional photo walk through places like Chattanooga and Belize…

What You'll Find in the Photography Section

  • Nature and wildlife portfolios from the American Southeast and beyond

  • Street, Nature and Lowlight photography with a minimalist kit

  • Architectural and Travel photography including international work

  • A photography blog covering Leica gear, Nikon gear, manual lenses, and real-world shooting tips (there is a smidge of autofocus lenses too…)

  • Books and fine art prints available for purchase

WK4DS Amateur Radio, POTA Activations, and Electronics Projects

I'm a licensed amateur radio operator with call sign WK4DS, and Parks on the Air (POTA) activations are my favorite way to get on the air. I run QRP power levels and work mostly CW, which keeps things interesting. On the electronics side, I document repair projects, RF amplifier builds, and technical teardowns / projects on the blog, including a pretty deep dive into the Ten-Tec Scout 555 that a lot of people seem to find useful.

What You'll Find in the WK4DS Section

  • POTA activation reports with band conditions, contact counts, and DX highlights

  • CW and QRP operating tips for field operations

  • Electronics repair and modification projects including the Ten-Tec Scout 555 series

  • Electronics repair and modification of the sBitx V3 amateur transceiver.

  • Amateur radio gear reviews and recommendations

  • A full blog table of contents so you can find exactly what you're looking for
